So, there's been a bit of ballyhoo about the demise of Pirate Radio. Since at least 2007, according to Pat Murphy via the FRN:
"They are killing pirate radio. They have done more to kill pirate radio, than the entire federal government agencies combined. These individuals who want to appear to, know more than anyone else, are destroying something that should be fun for everyone. The listeners and pirate ops both.
Just my suggestion and view, having watched this happen, again and again. If it doesn't stop, they're going to kill it for everyone. I know some of you remember the way it was in the 80's. You could listen for a month and not hear one single pirate. I'd hate to see it go back to that, because we had driven away all the good operators."

Happily, the stats regarding Pirate Listening seem to indicate otherwise.
Since other logging venues have opened up, without WBNY/Pat Murphy's access to their login data – both Ops and listeners can feel safer enjoying their listening hobby.
To think there isn't enough room to thrive in pirate radio listening is folly: The Free Radio Cafe has quite the robust logging area even since its recent debut on the scene:
The thing that's abundantly apparent here:
If you offer Ops and DXer's choice – and an environment free of intimidation – they will come.
Pirate Radio will wax and wane, but the stats show it always pulls through, given the immense resilience and creativity of its ops, and the enthusiasm and persistence of its listeners.
Long Live Pirate Radio!
